Yokohama F Marinos have dismissed manager Harry Kewell after a disappointing tenure lasting less than seven months, the club announced on Tuesday. The former Liverpool winger's exit follows the team's loss to Al Ain in the Asian Champions League final and a series of inconsistent performances.

Kewell, who had limited managerial experience before his appointment, took over from Kevin Muscat in December. Despite high expectations set by predecessors Ange Postecoglou and Muscat—who won J.League titles in 2019 and 2022—Kewell struggled to replicate their success. The team is currently 12th in the league, 20 points behind leaders Machida Zelvia.

A recent 4-1 victory over Kashima Antlers was overshadowed by four consecutive league defeats. John Hutchinson, the current head coach, will take over managerial duties on an interim basis.
