Juventus have signed Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Premier League club Aston Villa on a five-year deal, the Serie A side said on Sunday. The clubs did not provide the financial details of the deal, but British media reported that Juventus had signed the 26-year-old Brazil international for around 50 million euros ($53.57 million).
Having started his career with Brazil's Vasco da Gama, Luiz moved to Manchester City in 2017 but did not play for them and was loaned to LaLiga club Girona for two seasons. A Tokyo 2020 Olympics gold medallist with Brazil, Douglas Luiz signed for Villa in 2019 and helped them qualify for the Europa Conference League and Champions League in successive campaigns.
"Welcome to Juventus, Douglas. We can't wait to see you on the pitch," the Turin-based club said in a statement. ($1 = 0.9334 euros)
