On July 1, the Global Multimedia Deepfake Detection Challenge 2024 was officially launched. Co-hosted by the INCLUSION Conference on the Bund and Ant Group, and organized by Ant Digital Technologies, the event features a total prize pool of 1,000,000 RMB (approximately $137,000).

This initiative aims to encourage participants to develop, test, and refine more accurate, effective, and innovative detection models to counter various types of Deepfake attacks in real-world scenarios. The challenge also seeks to inspire innovative defense strategies and improve deepfake recognition accuracy.

The competition comprises two tracks: an image track and an audio/video track. Participants will utilize datasets with multi-dimensional face forgery methods, consisting of over 1 million samples. They are tasked with developing AI models that predict the probability of a deepfake instance. The top 20 models demonstrating the highest accuracy will move to the final round. A panel of experts will then evaluate the finalists based on criteria such as accuracy, generalizability, innovation, practical applicability, and interpretability. The top three teams from each track will be invited to the 2024 INCLUSION Conference on the Bund in Shanghai to receive awards and participate in an exhibition match.

Several renowned industry organizations and companies will collaborate to co-organize the challenge. Key partners include the Advanced Technology Exploration Community (ATEC), the Cybersecurity College of the University of Science and Technology of China, and Ant Security Lab. Technical support will come from ZOLOZ, with Alibaba Cloud providing the necessary computing power.

Key dates for the challenge include a registration deadline of July 31 at 10 am, the availability of the test set for download on August 15 at 10 am, and deadlines for test results, codes, and technical reports submissions on August 22 and August 26, respectively. Results will be announced in early September. Registration is open on Kaggle.
