Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar faced an unexpected hurdle when his plans to attend a significant conference were thwarted by poor visibility at Halwara airport due to persistent smog in Punjab.
Despite the setback, the international conference at Punjab Agricultural University proceeded with the presence of Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, highlighting the importance of addressing climate and energy transitions in agrifood systems.
Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu emphasized the need for Chief Minister Mann to engage with the Union government to urgently address the smog problem, as it had already caused disruptions including preventing the Vice President's scheduled participation.
