Andhra Pradesh Braces for Cyclone: Heavy Rainfall Alert

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in parts of Andhra Pradesh from October 14 to 17, following the formation of a low pressure area in the southeast Bay of Bengal and a cyclonic circulation in its west-central region.

Predictions indicate heavy to very heavy rain in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, accompanied by thunderstorms and possible squally winds reaching speeds of 60 km per hour. Authorities have mobilized to prepare for the impact.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has emphasized preemptive action, instructing district officials to warn residents and set up control rooms. Emergency teams from NDRF and SDRF have been positioned in vulnerable areas like Nellore and Tirupati.
