Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced on Monday that floodwaters in Vijayawada could recede by evening. He emphasized that the inflow into the Budameru rivulet had decreased.

Continuous torrential rains, exacerbated by a depression in the Bay of Bengal, caused severe flooding in many parts of Vijayawada. The Chief Minister conducted a teleconference with officials to review flood relief operations and monitor the rain situation in various districts.

Naidu directed the usage of drones for flood relief efforts in inaccessible areas and for monitoring riverbanks and inflows. He confirmed that power had been restored in Vijayawada, aside from a few houses, and urged vigilance against disease outbreaks. Restoration of medical camps and telecom services remains a priority. Meanwhile, heavy rains are expected to continue across different districts due to the depression.
