As the New Year celebrations approach, Mumbai's Railway Police Commissioner, Ravindra Shisve, has announced intensified security measures on the CSMT-Churchgate route. The police will enforce sobriety checks to prevent intoxicated individuals from entering stations, while an officer will be present in all women's coaches to ensure their safety.

Catering to the mass gatherings in South Mumbai, notably at spots like Marine Drive and Gateway of India, the police aim to prevent illegal activities and ensure a safe celebration environment. Central and Western Railways will also operate special trains on December 31 to facilitate safe and timely returns for commuters.

The security detail will be robust, with over 6000 personnel, including policemen, home guards, and MSF jawans, alongside 2000 RPF jawans. Live CCTV monitoring and deployment of dog squads add layers of safety, and women are encouraged to report illegal activities via a quick-response hotline.
