Over seven crore saplings have been planted in Rajasthan under the Chief Minister's Plantation Maha Abhiyan, an initiative inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. The state aims to plant 50 crore saplings in five years, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced on World Environment Day.
Speaking at a Clean Air Day event, Sharma announced the introduction of a 'green budget' integrating principles of green growth and environmental protection into all development projects starting next year. The state will also deploy 1,000 electric buses in major cities to support a pollution-free Rajasthan.
Sharma emphasized the shared responsibility of nature conservation and outlined an action plan to tackle air pollution under the National Clean Air Programme. Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav highlighted the reduction of environmental pollution in 131 cities nationwide through innovative technology and collaboration.
