Floodwaters in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are receding as the regions saw less rain on Tuesday. Governments in both states have ramped up relief efforts.
Heavy rains have resulted in 33 fatalities, with 16 in Telangana and 17 in Andhra Pradesh. Roads, railways, and thousands of acres of crops are severely affected.
Chief Ministers N Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy surveyed the affected areas. Reddy also reviewed reports on waterbody encroachments and measures to prevent disease outbreaks. Financial aid and rescue operations, including helicopter airlifts, are ongoing.
Telangana is seeking Rs 2,000 crore in aid from the Centre. Relief camps accommodate over 44,000 people, and power outages in Vijayawada complicate rescue efforts. The South Central Railway is actively working on track restoration.
