India is projected to experience above-normal rainfall in September, with the northwest region set to receive very heavy precipitation, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced.
IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra highlighted that the country will likely see 109% of the long-period average of 167.9 mm of rainfall this month, cautioning against potential floods and landslides.
Mohapatra also indicated that frequent low-pressure systems over the Bay of Bengal will contribute to significant rainfall across India, potentially affecting the normal monsoon trough position and introducing western disturbances into the mix.
