National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and local officials commenced large-scale relief operations in flood-hit Vijayawada on Tuesday, urgently providing food, water, and other essentials.

Six helicopters and multiple drones were deployed for the distribution of relief supplies including biscuits, fruits, milk, and medicines, stated an official press release.

'NDRF teams, Central forces, and district officials are facilitating the distribution of necessities through helicopters,' the release mentioned, featuring images of choppers loaded with aid materials.

According to a statement from the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA), Ministers, IAS, and IPS officers are actively engaged in ward-wise relief efforts in the affected commercial city where numerous neighborhoods are submerged.

Essential items are being prioritized in the relief work, and 43,417 flood-affected individuals have been relocated to rehabilitation centers.

A total of 48 NDRF and SDRF teams are participating in the relief operations, and 197 medical camps have been established to provide healthcare services.

In the wake of a cyclonic depression in the Bay of Bengal, several parts of the state experienced record-breaking rains leading to unusual flooding, with Vijayawada bearing the brunt of the disaster.
