Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired a PRAGATI meeting to review the progress of seven key projects, spread across 11 states and Union Territories, having a cumulative worth of around Rs 76,500 crore, his office said.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of timely completion of projects to avoid cost escalations and ensure public benefits. He chaired the 44th edition of PRAGATI, an ICT-based multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation.

The seven significant projects include road connectivity, rail projects, and initiatives in the Coal, Power, and Water Resources sectors. Modi also reviewed AMRUT 2.0 and public grievances related to the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Modi stressed the need for adequate operation and maintenance mechanisms for Jal Jeevan projects and suggested involving women self-help groups and skilling youth in related works. He reiterated the importance of Water Resource Surveys and source sustainability.

Modi advised chief secretaries to monitor AMRUT 2.0 works and make plans considering future urban growth. He highlighted the necessity for reforms in urban governance, comprehensive planning, urban transport planning, and municipal finance. The importance of initiatives like PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to meet energy needs was also underscored.

Up to the 44th PRAGATI meeting, 355 projects with a total cost of Rs 18.12 lakh crore have been reviewed, the statement added.
