A major pipeline burst in Mumbai's Aarey Colony is expected to disrupt water supply in several central and western Mumbai areas, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced on Friday.
The 1800-mm diameter pipeline, which channels water from Tansa Lake in Thane district, ruptured in the Gautam Nagar locality around 12.45 pm, according to a BMC official.
Consequently, water supply to K-East (Andheri East), H-East (Bandra East), and G-North (Dharavi and Sion) wards is likely to be affected. Officials quickly closed the valves to prevent water wastage from the gushing pipeline.
