In an unexpected turn of weather, Marathwada's drought-prone areas experienced heavy rainfall across 22 administrative circles within a 24-hour period, according to official reports released Tuesday.

Data from the divisional commissioner's office reveals that the Pendgaon circle in Beed district recorded the highest rainfall at 112.7 mm, closely followed by Chausala with 111.50 mm and Dharashiv Rural with 104 mm. The regions of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Dharashiv, Nanded, Parbhani, and Hingoli also experienced significant downpours.

So far, the region has accumulated 499.2 mm of rain this monsoon, surpassing the average of 444.9 mm. However, water storage in key irrigation projects remains a concern, with Sina Kolegaon dam in Dharashiv and Majalgaon in Beed still showing low levels.
