Kerala Fast-Tracks Financial Aid for Landslide Victims
The Kerala government is swiftly disbursing financial aid to those affected by the Mundakkai and Chooralmala landslides. Around Rs 72 lakh has been distributed to 12 individuals, and Rs 10,000 each to 617 people who lost their livelihoods. Additional funds are set aside for burial, cremation, and treatment costs.

The Kerala government is expediting the disbursement of financial aid to those impacted by landslides in the Mundakkai and Chooralmala areas of Wayanad district. According to the local administration, around Rs 72 lakh has been distributed to 12 individuals from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF).
Additionally, urgent financial assistance of Rs 10,000 each has been given to 617 persons who lost their means of livelihood in the July 30 disaster that claimed over 200 lives. The local administration further revealed that Rs 10,000 each has also been sanctioned for 124 persons for burial and cremation expenses.
Efforts are underway to provide additional financial aid to the 34 individuals currently hospitalized due to injuries from the disaster, upon submission of necessary documentation. Meanwhile, the Motor Vehicles Department is gathering data on vehicles completely destroyed or rendered unusable in the Mundakkai-Chooralmala disaster.
