The regional Met office has issued an 'orange' warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, in isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday. A 'yellow' warning remains in effect until August 15.

In addition, the weather department warned of a low to moderate flash flood risk in isolated parts of Mandi, Bilaspur, Solan, Sirmaur, Shimla, and Kullu districts till Saturday. There is potential for landslides, flash floods, and damage to crops and infrastructure due to strong winds and waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Since Thursday evening, Jogindernagar in Mandi district recorded the highest rainfall at 160 mm. The incessant rain has disrupted the water supply in Shimla and closed 97 roads. The state has sustained significant losses and fatalities due to these severe weather conditions.
