Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai unveiled the '2024 Winter Action Plan' on Friday, emphasizing its focus on pollution hotspots and identifying causes of the city's air quality crisis. Following a high-level meeting with officials from the Environment Department, Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), and Development Department, Rai outlined the strategy for pollution control measures.

Rai also announced a 'Save Environment' round table conference to be held on August 21 at the Delhi Secretariat. The event aims to gather environmental experts to develop a comprehensive winter action plan with robust measures. The conference will incorporate expert suggestions to effectively address various pollution sources.

Measures discussed during the meeting include tackling dust pollution, vehicular emissions, stubble burning, and garbage burning. Industrial pollution will also be addressed by ensuring all registered industrial units switch to PNG. Additionally, the Green War Room and Green Delhi App will be upgraded for better public communication and timely action on complaints. The Delhi government will conduct a Real-Time Apportionment Study in pollution hotspots and coordinate with the central government and neighboring states to enforce joint pollution control measures, including the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).
