Holiday Declared for Schools in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada Due to Heavy Rains

Due to heavy rains forecasted by the Meteorological Department, schools and pre-university colleges in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts will remain closed on August 1. Authorities have issued safety advisories and are undertaking measures to monitor flooding risks and ensure public safety.

In response to a heavy rain forecast by the Meteorological Department, the administrations of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts have declared a holiday for schools and pre-university colleges on August 1.

Udupi Deputy Commissioner Vidya Kumari issued a related notification late on Wednesday night, urging residents to prevent children from going to water-logged areas, riverbanks, and seashores.

Despite reduced rains in other parts of Karnataka, Udupi is still facing heavy downpours, particularly in Byndoor, where the rising Chakra River poses flooding risks. Revenue department officials are on the ground to ensure public safety.
