Heavy rains lashed Hyderabad on Sunday, leading to severe waterlogging in various localities and disrupting normal life.

According to the Telangana Development and Planning Society, Maredpally recorded the highest rainfall with 75.3 mm, followed by Khairatabad with 74 mm and Musheerabad with 70 mm, between 8:30 AM and 8:00 PM on Sunday.

Civic agency teams were deployed across the city to clear water stagnation as the downpour caused congestion in different areas.

The Met Centre of IMD warned in its 8:30 PM weather bulletin that heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur at isolated places in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Suryapet, and Mahabubabad districts of Telangana until 8:30 AM on Monday.

Thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph), are predicted to hit several districts of Telangana during this period.

GHMC Mayor Vijayalaxmi Gadwal posted on 'X' about holding a teleconference with Zonal Commissioners and EVDM Teams, instructing officials to remain on high alert to avoid public inconvenience. She urged citizens to contact control rooms for GHMC-DRF assistance for any rain-related issues.

The Cyberabad Police Commissionerate reported heavy rain and flooding in several locations, but appreciated the swift response of the Cyberabad Traffic Police and GHMC Monsoon teams in ensuring smooth traffic flow.

The Municipal Administration and Urban Development office also posted on 'X' mentioning Principal Secretary Dana Kishore's inspection of multiple areas and his coordination with engineering and emergency teams.
