Bihar By-elections: Over 12 Lakh Voters Decide Fate of 38 Candidates

Bihar witnessed a significant voter turnout of 52.84% during the byelections for four assembly seats on Wednesday. These elections, held for Tarari, Imamganj, Belaganj, and Ramgarh, engaged more than 12 lakh eligible voters.
The polling commenced at 7 am and extended until 6 pm, with allowances till 4 pm in certain Imamganj booths. Voting occurred at 1,277 locations, with 1,196 situated in rural areas. Security was ramped up with 7,000 personnel and 2,550 home guards deployed.
Initial Election Commission data showed Belaganj leading with a 56.21% turnout. The polls follow the Lok Sabha elections, where the assembly seats were vacated by MLAs. Election authorities managed complaints promptly, and security teams seized 2,141 litres of illegal liquor, addressing the state's alcohol ban.
