The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has leveled serious accusations against the TDP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Andhra Pradesh, alleging a crackdown on the party's social media activists. According to the YSRCP, the government has served a staggering 680 notices, registered 147 legal cases, and arrested 49 individuals.
YSRCP leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy voiced concerns during a press conference at his Tadepalli residence, asserting that only a limited number of harassment cases have surfaced, implying that many party activists continue to face oppression.
Reddy emphasized the legal limitations, stating that the government should at most issue a 'CrPC 41A notice' for disagreeable social media posts, and it was unacceptable to allegedly physically harm people. He criticized the government's approach, illustrating the broader issue of oppression against opposition voices.
