In a significant move, the police, along with a poll flying squad, seized 2,700 ration kits reportedly associated with independent candidate Narendra Jichkar in Nagpur. Following the seizure, a case was registered, a senior official said on Monday.
The kits, valued at Rs 15 lakh, were confiscated on Sunday from locations in Mahendra Nagar and Motibagh, according to the official. The operation was part of a broader effort by election teams to enforce regulations.
Narendra Jichkar, who is vying for a seat from Nagpur West, has denied ownership of the kits. He claims that his political adversaries planted them to tarnish his public image amidst the ongoing campaign.
