Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has framed the upcoming Jharkhand assembly election as a crucial battle to preserve 'Sanatan' values in the state. Speaking at an election rally in Deoghar district, Sarma pointed out that the Hindu population in the Santhal Pargana region has decreased significantly since 1951.
Addressing BJP supporters, Sarma noted that the region's Hindu demographic has fallen from 90 percent to 67 percent by 2011, while the tribal population also witnessed a sharp decline. He attributed these changes to the influence of Bangladeshi infiltrators, alleging they are being aided by the state's government.
As part of the BJP's campaign promises, Sarma assured the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to tackle infiltration issues. He also pledged to fill 2.87 lakh government roles, create 1.5 lakh jobs, and construct 21 lakh homes under PM Awas Yojana if the party is elected to power.
