The Election Commission of India (ECI) has categorically dismissed allegations from the Congress party concerning irregularities in the Haryana elections. Congress, in turn, has submitted a counter response, which they described as a rebuttal to what they view as the ECI's generic dismissal of their complaints.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh publicly shared a letter challenging the ECI's response, emphasizing that the commission did not adequately address specific issues in 20 Vidhan Sabha constituencies. The Congress has criticized the ECI for giving itself a clean chit, citing dissatisfaction with the tone and substance of the electoral body's reply.
The party highlighted concerns over the timeline between the Model Code of Conduct's announcement and the counting of votes. They argue that grievances arise quickly and, if not addressed promptly, become moot, leaving only a lengthy election petition process as recourse. Congress also accuses the ECI of bias, noting that numerous complaints against the Prime Minister and Home Minister have gone unaddressed, while Congress leaders face scrutiny.
