The political battlefield is heating up in Gujarat as ten candidates prepare to contest the bypoll for the Vav assembly seat in Banaskantha district. Officials confirmed that the deadline for the withdrawal of nominations closed with five candidates stepping down, leaving parties like Congress and BJP in contention.
The Vav seat was left vacant when Geniben Thakor, a sitting Congress MLA, ascended to the Lok Sabha. In response, Congress has put forward former MLA Gulabsinh Rajput, while the BJP has chosen Swaroopji Thakor, who was previously defeated by Thakor in the 2022 assembly elections.
Amidst political shifts, Mavji Patel, a former BJP member and independent candidate, emerges as a notable figure. The election is set for November 13, and counting will take place on November 23, marking a crucial period for the involved political parties.
