In a significant seizure ahead of the Maharashtra assembly polls, law enforcement officers confiscated Rs 1.05 crore from a car in Nanded district. The vehicle was intercepted by police at a Bhagyanagar check post, according to officials.

The seizure comes as the model code of conduct is in force in anticipation of the upcoming state elections, scheduled for November. Authorities are rigorously investigating the origins and intended destination of this substantial cash haul.

Nanded Superintendent of Police, Abinash Kumar, confirmed that coordination with banking institutions is underway to verify the legitimacy of the seized funds. The upcoming 288-member assembly election is set for November 20, with vote counting on November 23.
