In a statement brimming with confidence, Jitu Patwari, the Madhya Pradesh Congress president, declared victory for the party in the upcoming Budhni assembly bypoll. This seat, held by Union agriculture minister and former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, witnessed a robust turnout supporting Congress' Rajkumar Patel.
Patwari noted a palpable shift among voters, disillusioned by unmet BJP promises. Frustration is mounting over issues like atrocities against women and marginalized communities, as well as rampant activities of mafia groups, he said, further painting a picture of change in the political landscape.
Amid an atmosphere of charged emotions, former ministers and prominent politicians rallied support for Patel, who aims to wrest the seat from BJP's Ramakant Bhargava. The Budhni bypoll, scheduled for November 13, could redefine the region's allegiance as results roll in on November 23.
