Kishore Kumar Puttur, the BJP candidate, has secured a decisive victory in the Legislative Council by-election for the Dakshina Kannada Local Authorities Constituency. The election results were made public on Thursday, reflecting a significant achievement for the party in the region.
Vote counting took place at St. Aloysius Pre-University College in Mangaluru, where 5,092 elected representatives from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts cast their votes. Puttur won by a notable margin of 1,600 votes in the first-preference vote count.
The by-election occurred on October 21, following former minister and senior BJP leader Kota Srinivasa Poojary's election to the Lok Sabha. Congress's Raju Poojary was his main opponent. BJP supporters enthusiastically celebrated the victory at the party headquarters in Mangaluru.
