The 15th Haryana Legislative Assembly will commence with the oath-taking ceremony for newly elected members on October 25. Senior Congress leader Raghuvir Singh Kadian has been appointed as the pro-tem Speaker, ready to administer the oath to Assembly members.
Before taking on his responsibilities, Kadian himself will be sworn in by Governor Bandaru Dattatreya at the Haryana Raj Bhavan. The legislative proceedings are scheduled to mark the beginning of another term for the BJP, which secured a majority by winning 48 out of 90 seats in the assembly elections held on October 5.
The assembly election results, declared on October 8, saw the Congress securing 37 seats, with the INLD and independents taking two and three seats respectively. Kadian, as the House's senior-most legislator and former Speaker from 2005 to 2009, brings a wealth of experience to the role.
