The Election Commission of India recently rejected Congress' allegations of irregularities in the Haryana assembly elections, a decision that prompted strong reactions from BJP's MoS Defence, Sanjay Seth. He condemned Congress for repeatedly casting doubts on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the Election Commission itself whenever electoral results do not favor them.
Seth asserted that such actions by Congress reveal a deeper distrust in national institutions, as they also question the integrity of agencies like the ED and CBI, as well as the judiciary. He suggested that Congress's lack of faith extends even to the public, who will soon express their dissatisfaction in Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections.
The ECI, in a formal letter to Congress, reminded the party to abstain from making baseless accusations, highlighting the potential for public unrest. After re-verifying all 26 constituencies concerned, the ECI assured that the Haryana elections were orderly. Notably, BJP secured a third term with a triumph, while Congress won 37 seats.
