On Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its first list of 99 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, slated for November 20. Among the key contenders are Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis contesting from Nagpur South West and state BJP president Chandrashekhar Krishnarao Bawankule running from Kamthi.
Other prominent candidates include Minister Girish Mahajan from Jamner, Sudhir Mungantiwar from Ballarpur, and Ashish Shelar from Vandre West. The list also features candidates from diverse regions such as Suresh Damu Bhole from Jalgaon City and Sanjay Mukund Kalkar from Thane.
This announcement follows a strategic meeting at Union Home Minister Amit Shah's residence. The BJP, part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance, is engaged in seat-sharing discussions as the election date approaches, with the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi also ramping up their campaign efforts. Maharashtra heads to the polls on November 20, with results expected three days later.
