The fatal consumption of illicit liquor in Bihar has left 33 dead, prompting a political uproar. RJD MP Misa Bharti on Sunday criticised the state's alcohol ban, underscoring the need for stringent government actions against the perpetrators involved in the tragedy.

Echoing grief, RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav condemned the Nitish Kumar-led administration, branding the incident as 'unfortunate' and highlighting the ineffective control over the scourge of illicit liquor. The calamity saw 28 deaths in Siwan and 5 in Saran, propelling urgent calls for action.

The tragedy has sparked a fierce political blame game, as opposition parties question the efficacy of the state's liquor prohibition. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav denounced the ban as a breeding ground for corruption, alleging the existence of a Rs 30,000 crore 'parallel economy' within JD(U) circles.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Chirag Paswan assured of rigorous action against the offenders, emphasizing that investigations are leading to arrests, and no culpable individual will be spared. Paswan's statements reflect the grim resolve of the authorities to tackle the crisis.
