The BJP claimed on Friday that the opposition INDIA bloc constituents are considering implementing a rotational system for the Leader of Opposition's post in the Lok Sabha. According to BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, the decision lies within the opposition's jurisdiction, suggesting the move if they doubt Rahul Gandhi's dedication to the role.

RSP MP N K Premachandran dismissed the BJP's claims as unfounded, insisting that there isn't even such thinking among the bloc. He highlighted that the Leader of Opposition must come from the single largest party with at least 10 percent of the seats, and categorized the rotational concept as irrelevant.

Former Lok Sabha Secretary General PDT Achary supported this view, emphasizing that only the single largest opposition party can nominate the Leader of Opposition, a decision acknowledged by the Speaker. The current system leaves no room for government intervention, reinforcing the opposition's internal choice-making process.
