The Government Railway Police successfully dismantled an inter-state crime syndicate engaged in online betting on IPL cricket matches, with the arrest of five suspects from Delhi and parts of Madhya Pradesh, according to an official statement on Saturday.

The operation was triggered by a complaint from a man who alleged that Shubham Lodhi had persuaded him to provide his Aadhaar and PAN cards under the pretense of facilitating government welfare aid. This led to the discovery of a network of at least 40 bank accounts used for channeling betting funds.

The financial transactions involved were significant, fluctuating from Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 lakh, as disclosed by Jabalpur GRP Inspector Balram Yadav. The police recovered multiple ATM cards and SIM cards connected to these accounts during the arrest of Lodhi and Sharma. This further uncovered links to other key individuals, namely Sanjeev Arora in Delhi and Rishi Kapoor and Lakhan Thakur in Jabalpur.
