The decision followed a review meeting led by AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge, attended by key party figures such as Rahul Gandhi and K C Venugopal.

During the meeting, held at Kharge's residence, the party leaders deliberated over the significant discrepancy between exit polls and the actual outcome. Amidst allegations of EVM malfunctions, a Congress delegation, including Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Ashok Gehlot, met with Election Commission officials, highlighting several complaints from constituencies.
