Facing scrutiny from multiple investigative bodies over the Mysuru land allotment controversy, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah drew upon Mahatma Gandhi's principles on Wednesday, invoking the 'court of conscience' as the highest moral authority.

During a Gandhi Jayanti event, the senior Congress leader emphasized that Gandhi's life and thoughts provide him with courage, strength, and hope amid his 'current struggle,' referring to the investigations by the Lokayukta and the Enforcement Directorate concerning land allocations to his wife. The opposition has demanded his resignation.

In an online post, Siddaramaiah further elaborated on Gandhi's impact, stating, 'In a world full of communalism, dictatorship, and violence, only Mahatma Gandhi, the embodiment of truth, peace, and non-violence, can lead us by the hand.' His statements, alongside remarks made by Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, highlight the Congress party's ongoing commitment to Gandhian principles and the Constitution.
