Atletico Madrid will play their next three home matches with partial stadium closures, following the suspension of their recent match against Real Madrid due to items thrown onto the pitch, the Royal Spanish Football Federation announced on Wednesday.

The LaLiga derby at Civitas Metropolitano Stadium on Sunday was halted late in the match after Atletico fans hurled objects onto the field, particularly after defender Eder Militao scored an opening goal for Real Madrid.

The referee called a pause when Atletico ultras targeted Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Following a delay of over 20 minutes, play resumed. Atletico Madrid has also been fined 45,000 euros ($50,000), and the offending section of the south stands will be closed. Spain's Sports minister Pilar Alegria has pledged severe penalties for those responsible. The game ended 1-1, with a late equalizer from Angel Correa.
