NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar has voiced concerns over efforts by communal elements to erase the historical significance of Koregaon Bhima, a site in Maharashtra renowned for sacrifices made by Dalits.

The violence erupted following the Elgar Parishad conclave in 2017 commemorating the 1818 battle of Koregaon Bhima. The Maharashtra government set up an inquiry commission in February 2018, led by former Chief Justice JN Patel, to probe the incident.

Addressing a gathering where advocate Rahul Makhare joined NCP (SP), Pawar underscored the importance of the Constitution, drafted by Babasaheb Ambedkar, in maintaining India's stability amid threats from communal forces and political maneuvers.
