Congress MP Kumari Selja on Monday expressed confidence in her party's prospects in the upcoming Haryana assembly elections. She emphasized that Congress is entering the race with full confidence and a strong commitment to win.

'Ask the poor, shopkeepers, the youth, and the middle class—every citizen is troubled under BJP rule. There is no reason to fear; Congress is contesting these elections with full confidence. We will win,' Selja stated in an interview with ANI.

Selja further argued that people trust Congress because the BJP has only been showing dreams to the public for the past 10 years. 'We work on the ground. For 10 years, BJP gave just hollow slogans. We've fought against their anti-people policies. Today, people trust Congress,' she added, citing issues like the Agniveer problem and injustices to the armed forces. She reiterated that the common citizen, including the poor and the middle class, are troubled under BJP rule.

Earlier today, Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal also expressed confidence in the party's ability to sweep the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls. 'On October 8, Congress will sweep Haryana and J&K. It's a one-sided election in Haryana; people are with Congress here. On October 8, people will show how they treat PM Modi,' said Venugopal.

Haryana will head to the polls on October 5 to elect its 90-member state legislative assembly, with the counting of votes set for October 8. In the 2019 elections, the BJP emerged as the single-largest party, securing 40 seats, while Congress won 30 seats. The BJP is confident of forming the government in the state for a third term.
