The BJP on Sunday criticized PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti's move to cancel her poll campaign following the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, arguing she lacks empathy for Indian soldiers martyred at the border.
The backlash came after Mufti dedicated Sunday to the 'martyrs of Lebanon & Gaza,' drawing ire from BJP national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain. 'Mehbooba Mufti doesn't feel sad when an Indian soldier is martyred on the border. But if any Nasrallah dies in Lebanon, she feels very sad. What kind of message does she want to send out,' Hussain said in a PTI video.
Despite the controversy, Hussain emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar are advocating for global peace. 'But Mehbooba Mufti does not mourn for the people of the country. If something happens abroad, she is very sad about it,' concluded Hussain, criticizing Mufti's emotional priorities.
