In a significant development, the Karnataka High Court dismissed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's petition challenging Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's approval for an investigation into the alleged illegalities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. In response, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara affirmed that the Chief Minister is prepared to face any investigation.

Parameshwara emphasized the independence of the Lokayukta police, stating that they operate autonomously and are not subject to external influence. The Karnataka Lokayukta's Mysuru district police will investigate the MUDA scam and are expected to submit a report within three months. This followed a private complaint by activist Snehamayi Krishna.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at a poll rally in Haryana's Sonipat, criticized the Congress, accusing them of being mired in corruption. He pointed out the allegations against Siddaramaiah, asserting the necessity of a proper investigation. Siddaramaiah dismissed these accusations as a political ploy, reiterating that the BJP is using the issue for political gain.

The High Court, through a verdict by Justice Nagaprasanna, stated that the Governor's order for prosecution does not suffer from any non-application of mind. Allegations suggest that MUDA illegally allocated 14 prime sites in Mysuru city to Siddaramaiah's wife. The court had previously granted temporary relief to Siddaramaiah, staying further proceedings by a special court.
