The Congress intensified its offensive against the BJP on Wednesday following controversial remarks by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut. She called for the reinstatement of the three farm laws, which were repealed in 2021. Congress demands her expulsion if the ruling party disagrees with her stance.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack, promising that states gearing up for elections, including Haryana, will deliver a strong rebuttal to the BJP. Ranaut later retracted her statement, clarifying it was her personal opinion and not the party's official position.
Congress argues that the remarks by Ranaut, who mentioned the positive impacts of the repealed farm laws, indicate the BJP's hidden agenda to reintroduce them. Congress spokesperson Shaktisinh Gohil questioned why Prime Minister Modi hasn't condemned Ranaut's statements if the BJP disagrees with them.
