Union Minister Giriraj Singh delivered a blistering critique of the Congress party and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing the Congress of being the 'Gangotri' of corruption and labeling AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal as the 'mastermind' of corrupt practices. Singh remarked on the failure of the Congress-AAP alliance, saying, 'What has to be seen in this. He (Arvind Kejriwal) used to say that he would send Sheila Dikshit to jail but today he is in jail. Congress has become the Gangotri of corruption and Arvind Kejriwal has become the mastermind today.'
The breakdown in seat-sharing talks between Congress and AAP for Haryana assembly elections occurred on Monday. The ruling party in Delhi released its first list of 20 candidates, while Congress had already released a list of 41 candidates for the 90-member assembly. Sushil Gupta, Haryana chief of AAP, revealed that the party waited patiently before publishing their list.
Citing the previous Lok Sabha elections where Congress and AAP collaborated in Haryana and Delhi, Gupta disclosed that current negotiations for assembly seats fell apart as Congress offered only 4-5 seats while AAP demanded at least 10. With three days left for the filing of nominations, leaders from both Congress and BJP expressed confidence about their electoral prospects. Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda confidently declared, 'Congress aa rahi hain, BJP jaa rahi hain Haryana mein (Congress is coming, BJP is going).'
