China's official media on Sunday accused the Quad of resorting to a divide-and-rule strategy to create discord between Beijing and its neighbors. This claim followed the Quad Summit, hosted by President Joe Biden, which aimed to expand its Indo-Pacific Partnership.

The summit, held in Wilmington, Delaware, saw attendance from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. According to the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post, the summit marked a significant transformation for the 17-year-old framework of the four nations.

Despite the absence of any direct mention of China in the summit's joint statement, Chinese media asserted that the US is employing the Quad as a tool for its China-containment strategy. The editorial argued that this approach fails to hide the Quad's role as a geopolitical tool and suggested the US is trying to replace long-standing regional rules with its 'value diplomacy'.
