National Conference Allies with Congress to Avoid Hung Assembly in J&K
The National Conference, led by Vice-President Omar Abdullah, has formed a pre-poll alliance with the Congress for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. The alliance aims to prevent a hung assembly and counter BJP's potential attempts to extend lieutenant governor's rule. The seat-share agreement allots 51 seats to the National Conference, 32 to Congress, and one to CPI(M).

The National Conference, in a strategic move to avoid a hung assembly in Jammu and Kashmir, has formed a pre-poll alliance with Congress, announced party Vice-President Omar Abdullah during a rally.
According to the seat-share agreement, the National Conference will contest 51 seats, Congress 32, and CPI(M) one. Six seats will witness friendly contests between National Conference and Congress.
Abdullah highlighted that the BJP might want a hung assembly to extend lieutenant governor's rule, but assured that the people won't allow it. He also criticized BJP's minimal campaigning in Kashmir and their attitude towards Muslims.
