The Uttar Pradesh BJP's OBC wing held a demonstration on Saturday, protesting against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks on reservation in the United States. The protest saw the burning of Gandhi's effigy.

A statement from the BJP noted that workers of its 'Pichhda Varg Morcha,' led by state president and Uttar Pradesh Minister Narendra Kashyap, organized an 'aakrosh march' beginning at the party office in Lucknow. The march culminated in a sit-in at the Hazratganj crossroads where the effigy was set aflame.

Kashyap expressed that there is widespread anger among the OBC community across India concerning Gandhi's statement. He emphasized that BJP is a true supporter of reservation, highlighting that 27 OBC MPs and 22 OBC leaders hold ministerial positions in the NDA government both at the Center and in Uttar Pradesh. He warned that BJP workers would respond to any opposition against reservation.

Kashyap also announced plans for a larger demonstration on September 26, where thousands of OBC Morcha workers will march from the Ghaziabad border to Delhi to gherao Rahul Gandhi's residence.
