Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries, HD Kumaraswamy, on Saturday, visited the Bokajan Cement Plant in Assam, emphasizing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has continued the development initiatives for the North-Eastern states started by former Prime Ministers Devegowda and Vajpayee.

Kumaraswamy noted, "During Devegowda Ji's tenure, it was decided that three secretary-level officials from the central government would visit the North-Eastern states monthly to oversee development and identify issues to be addressed. After PM Modi took office, he further empowered central ministers to engage directly with citizens and address regional challenges."

Despite heavy rains delaying his visit initially planned for July, Kumaraswamy praised PM Modi's leadership. He also inaugurated advanced hot gas utilization in raw mills and laid the foundation stone for a 1 MWp grid-connected solar PV plant.

He added, "I conducted a thorough review of the factory, engaged with officers to discuss challenges, and encouraged the team to enhance efficiency and productivity, aligning with PM Modi's vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047." Earlier, Kumaraswamy met Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, assuring that he would relay the demands of the people to the Centre and concerned ministries.

Kumaraswamy stated, "I have traveled across the North-Eastern region, met with the Nagaland CM, and received feedback on key areas of focus. I will continue my visits to Arunachal and Assam and will ensure that the voices of the people reach the Centre."
