Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, was actively involved in the 'Sewa Pakhwada' campaign hosted by the Central government in Dibrugarh on Thursday. Sonowal joined the cleanliness drive at the city's Civil Hospital as part of the 'Swachhata Mein Jan Bhagidari' initiative to motivate government employees and citizens to maintain regular cleanliness.

As the MP for Dibrugarh Lok Sabha, Sonowal inaugurated the 'Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir' at Chowkidingee field, benefiting sanitation workers from several municipalities including Dibrugarh, Chabua, and Tinsukia. More than 500 Safai Karmacharis attended the event, interacting with Sonowal, who assured them of the government's commitment to provide social security and access to welfare schemes.

Speaking at the event, Sonowal emphasized the importance of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, as a transformative movement for cleanliness across India. He praised the participation of millions in various cleanup campaigns and encouraged public involvement through initiatives like Swachhata Pledges and Marathons. The ongoing efforts aim at achieving comprehensive cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
