Delhi Chief Minister designate Atishi arrived at the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National convenor Arvind Kejriwal ahead of the oath-taking ceremony at Raj Niwas on Saturday. Delhi ministers Saurabh Bharadwaj and Gopal Rai were also present.

Dilip Pandey, Delhi Assembly's Chief Whip, alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aims to dismantle AAP by incarcerating its leaders. "The whole nation saw how BJP misused agencies like ED and CBI. When they couldn't sway AAP, they resorted to false allegations against every AAP leader," said Pandey.

On Thursday, AAP announced that Atishi will take oath as the new Chief Minister of Delhi on September 21. President Droupadi Murmu accepted Arvind Kejriwal's resignation but stated he will remain in office until the swearing-in.

"The President is pleased to accept Arvind Kejriwal's resignation, effective immediately. He will continue as Chief Minister until Atishi is sworn in," the official statement read. "The President is pleased to appoint Atishi as Chief Minister effective from her swearing-in date," it added.

Atishi expressed mixed feelings, appreciating the trust placed in her by Kejriwal while expressing sadness over his resignation. She vowed to work towards bringing Kejriwal back as Chief Minister after the upcoming elections.

At 43, Atishi will become the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi, following Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit. She has been instrumental in improving Delhi's government schools during her tenure as an advisor to the former Education Minister, Manish Sisodia.
