Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted the current peace along the Jammu and Kashmir borders during an election rally in Poonch, attributing the stability to Pakistan's fear of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's retaliatory policies. Shah highlighted that past rulers encouraged terrorism, contrasting it with the BJP's approach of equipping youths with laptops instead of guns.
He highlighted the government's plans to construct more bunkers for civilian safety and criticized the National Conference's record, stating that previous families failed to curb terrorism. Shah assured the public that any cross-border firing would be met with a robust response, stemming from Pakistan's apprehension towards the current administration.
Discussing the post-Article 370 scenario, Shah underscored the significance of the upcoming elections in fostering democracy in the region. He praised the communities safeguarding the borders and addressed the provision of special recruitment drives for youth. The assembly polls, the first since the bifurcation of the state, see their final phase on October 1, with results announced on October 8.
